The numbers do not lie:
→ The Netherlands will have over 7.3 million people aged 50 and over in 2025.
→ Of which 3.76 million are aged 65 and over.
→ And almost 900,000 people are 80 years or older.
Ask yourself the following as an entrepreneur:
If there are increasingly more people aged 50 and over than people with a sports subscription in the Netherlands... why do I see them so little in my company or Personal Trainer studio?
The answer is painfully simple:
❌ Not because they don't want to.
✅ But because they don't recognize themselves anywhere.
And yet, many clubs still build their entire positioning around the 25-45 age group with progress photos, fast videos, before and afters, high-intensity training sessions...
While the 50-plusser is stable. Loyal. Financially resilient. And looking.
What does this target group look for?
✔️ A place where they feel welcome and safe
✔️ Tailored guidance, not too much hassle
✔️ People their own age
✔️ Social contact, at least as important as the exercise itself
So if we want to reach (and retain) these people, we need to rethink our communication and education:
→ The visual language must be different.
→ The behavior of entrepreneurs and Personal Trainers must be different.
So the question is not whether you should do something with this target group.
The question is: what are you doing about it today?
Are you, as a fitness entrepreneur, actively working on attracting people aged 50 and over?
The Personal Trainer ACE course at level 5 EREPS is scientifically substantiated, focused on disease profiles and thus also the elderly, allowing you to become one of the most highly and best-trained Personal Trainers in the country.
